About St. Peter's School of English

St. Peter's School is a family run business which has been teaching English to foreign students since 1966. The school normally hosts around 40-60 students outside the summer months, which leads to a very happy and friendly atmosphere. Most of our staff have been with us for many years which means the school has a relaxed yet efficient atmosphere. St. Peter's is recognised by the British Council and is a member of English UK.

 LOCATION
St. Peter's School is in the middle of the historic city of Canterbury, (pop 40,000) with a wonderful mixture of old and new architecture. We are just two minutes' walk from the magnificent cathedral and the city centre with its large modern shops, and from the interesting medieval streets filled with historic buildings. In the evening students can go to the theatre or cinema or relax in one of the many restaurants and pubs.

For those interested in sport, the swimming pool and sports centre is just a short distance from the school.

Canterbury is only 75 minutes from London by train, 20 minutes from Ashford International which is connected to EuroStar and only 15 minutes from Dover.

FACILITIES
The school has 8 classrooms with use of video and audio equipment. There is also a broadband room with 9 machines free of use to students, teachers and group leaders during the day for internet surfing and emailing, plus a computer room where students can work on language programmes individually and at their own speed in the afternoons for CVs and course work.

Also available are audio-visual machines backed by an extensive library of audio cassettes where students can listen to stories, practice aural comprehension and language exercises. There is a table tennis room and a large beamed sitting room and cafe where students can meet their friends for a cup of tea and a chat, and during the summer months they can relax in the beautiful, medieval walled garden and its marquee.
